I have been meaning to upgrade my touring/commuting bike for a while now. For Christmas, Dad and the siblings got me some fancy Phil Wood hub touring wheels, laced up by Scott at Salvagetti's, frequent readers of this blog will remember my granny gear debacle, and I've had a set of BioPace II chainrings kicking around that I finally have a project for. So today, after finishing finals and getting to some long overdue gardening, I set myself to redoing the entire drivetrain.
I kind of made a mess of the kitchen, as you can see. But that's nothing, playing with old chainrings and chains is messy business.
